Bonnaroo + Soundslides = Fun!

girls at Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo is using Soundslides to create audio slideshows this year. Photographer Tim Broekema and writer Jon Waterhouse will roam the music and arts festival June 13-17 looking for the weird, wild and wonderful. They’ll bring you eight audio slideshow stories during the festival, two every day, showing the real-life experiences of hundreds of Boonarovians. (Always producing “Overwhelming Happiness,” according to the Bonnaroo website.)

The slideshows will fill in the scenes between videos of live shows that’ll appear on Bonnaro’s webcast.

Weird places and spaces….

“The webcast will be limited to festival performances, leaving the at-home audience in the dark about what’s going on throughout the festival grounds,” Bonnaroo’s social media and content manager Neal Cohen told us. “Using a mix of photography, interview sound bites and ambient noise, the audio slideshows will color in the lines of what’s going on around the festival — from the campgrounds to backstage and all the weird places and spaces between.”

The festival takes place on 10 stages on 700 acres of gorgeous landscape in Manchester, Tennessee. Headliners include Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bjork, Daniel Tosh, The Nationals, The Lumineers, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Passion Pit, the XX, Nas, Bob Saget, Grizzly Bear….and more…and more…and more.

“Bonnaroo is closer to Survivorman than your favorite resort,” someone close to the festival has said. Check back to our blog this week and next weekend to learn why – and to see what Tim Broekema and Jon put together. Follow us on Twitter @Soundslides. Bonnaroo is @Bonnaroo. Have a great week!
