Tim Broekema on audio slideshow nuts & bolts at Bonnaroo, Part 2!

Last June, photographer Tim Broekema and writer Jon Waterhouse spent four explosive days at the Bonnaroo music and art festival gathering material for audio slideshows that reveal what festival life is like for the thousands of Bonnoroovians every year. When Neal Cohen of Superfly Presents asked Soundslides to partner with Bonnaroo, he said he wanted a software that was super easy to use and quick and cost efficient to get online.

How did Tim Broekema and Jon Waterhouse make 8 Soundslides audio slideshows in 4 days at Bonnaroo?

Last June, photographer Tim Broekema and writer Jon Waterhouse spent four explosive days at Bonnaroo getting photos and sound recordings to make audio slideshows telling insider stories. Neal Cohen of Superfly Presents had asked Soundslides to partner with Bonnaroo. He believed audio slideshows would tell the best Bonnaroo  stories because they can be very expressive and match the Bonnaroo vibe. Also, Soundslides is super easy and quick, making them cost efficient to produce and get online.

Sierra Nevada College class creates Burning Man audio slideshow

When Savannah Hoover was a senior at Sierra Nevada College last year, she enrolled in an art class designed to build a gigantic  installation for display at the Burning Man festival. Burning Man is a cultural festival held over the whole week before and during Labor Day in the Black Rock Desert north of Reno, Nevada. The audio slideshow recording can be as powerful as jazz
Listen to the voice of the man recorded in this New York Times audio slideshow, "Social Worker with a Camera" by Sandra C. Roa. His monologue is like jazz; The intensity gushes and recedes; the sounds move from gritty to sweet; there’s staccato, silence, and some easy verbal riff. The tenor of his voice conveys even more meaning than the words alone do.

Bonnaroo + Soundslides = Fun!

Bonnaroo is using Soundslides to create audio slideshows this year. Photographer Tim Broekema and writer Jon Waterhouse will roam the music and arts festival June 13-17 looking for the weird, wild and wonderful. They’ll bring you eight audio slideshow stories during the festival, two every day, showing the real-life experiences of hundreds of Boonarovians. (Always producing “Overwhelming Happiness,” according to the Bonnaroo website.)

 

The slideshows will fill in the scenes between videos of live shows that’ll appear on Bonnaro’s webcast.

Travel Slideshow Contest Extended to Friday, May 31

 

Okay, okay. We're extending our travel audio slideshow deadline to Friday, May 31, by request from some of you who are still polishing your submissions. Thanks for the submissions so far! We've learned about some really great places around the world. It's fun to see your passion and creativity around travel, whether it be a favorite place, a surprising experience, or an exploration of a cultural activity such as dance or music.
